About Pawbill (working name)

Pawbill reads a photo of your vet bill, estimate or lab sheet line by line, explains each item in plain words, and shows where it sits against published price data. Our job ends at three verbs: explain, compare, and ask. Diagnosis and treatment decisions belong to your veterinarian.

What it does

  1. Read: AI extracts items, quantities and amounts from the photo into a table. You can correct anything it misread.
  2. Explain: For each item, what it is, why it appears on a bill, and which items usually come with it.
  3. Compare: We place each amount against public data for your region (or country) as low, fair or high. When there is no data, we say so.
  4. Ask: We draft questions for your vet and a polite message you can send to the clinic.

Where the comparison data comes from

Market Reference data
Korea Ministry of Agriculture public disclosure of veterinary fees (2025 survey, 3,950 clinics, min/max/average/median by district)
Germany GOT 2022 fee schedule annex (statutory single rate, 1x to 3x range, emergency 2x to 4x plus 50 euros)
Japan Japan Veterinary Medical Association fee survey, 4th edition (2021 survey, 1,096 responses, national median and price bands)
United States Anonymized bills contributed by pet owners, grouped by state (shown only with 10 or more samples)

Every figure carries its source, reference date and sample size. The method is published in the FAQ.

Who makes it

A one-person team based in Korea. We are not veterinarians and do not practice veterinary medicine. The approach of "explaining with public data" comes from a real-estate feasibility service we also run.

Privacy

Uploaded originals are deleted right after reading; only a file hash is kept. We do not extract owner names, addresses or phone numbers. Contributed bills are aggregated anonymously by amount, item and region; clinic names are never published.

How we make money

Reading and explanations are free. The detailed comparison is locked; contributing one bill unlocks 12 months, or you can pay a small fee. At the end of a result there are disclosed insurance and vet-financing affiliate links, and we offer anonymized benchmark data to insurers and clinics (B2B). See the Independence statement and Pricing.
